So you might be forgiven if you thought that Ireland was now part of the dictatorship country of america*. Our Fianna Fáil/Finne Gael coalition government looks like they are trying to abolish free health care in this country as shown by the text message shown above.

We need to do something about this and in my opinion we should be doing is to be looking for a Labour Party government who by their political ideologies are a socialist party and would be more likely to invest in our social economy such as health.
Other EU countries with a similar population
There are 2 countries in The EU that has a somewhat similar population to Ireland. These countries are Finland and Denmark. In Denmark dental work for adults are 100 percent out of pocket which means that the patient pays for their dental treatment but in Finland, the Finish Government subsidises complex dental treatment such as extractions and root canals by 70-80% making that €130 fee be around €31.
Danish and Finish MP salaries
The average salary of a member of the Danish parliament is €117,341.54 which includes their expenses. For Finish members if parliament the average salary is €201,708** per year which includes expenses. And to wrap up the salaries of our counterparts salaries in Denmark and Finland, the average salary of our MP’s (TD’s) is €117,113 plus expenses of up to €54,415 annually and a minimum of 29,350***
A clear difference in anual salary.
So in summary, an Irish polition gets less in their anual salary and still they are unable to at least subsidise dental treatment that has to be done in a hospital. And as for having to travel from one county of Ireland to another county for hospital dental treatment would require another post with a lot more research into this topic, which I probably will do. And the reason I was given for this was that the government hadn’t got the funding to provide dental treatment in a hospital near my county of Wexford. But then if I had to be getting treatment under the private sector where I was paying for this treatment then obviously the government wasn’t going to be funding my treatment.
Supplementary notes
- * indicates that the government is getting more and more like The US Congress (the american government) and also the small “a” in america denotes a lack of respect for this current dictatorship style of government and that it looks like the “MIGA” (Make Ireland Great Again) or (Ireland First) policy is clearly not working because if they really wanted to put Ireland first then they would put the health care of Irish Citizens first. Again I have to object to this as a migrant in our country will eventually help our economy, if not just by working but also by buying goods and services in Ireland. Ireland does get some reimbursement for refugees in Ireland. I will do another post dedicated to that topic
- ** This figure is based on how far a Finish member of parliament lives from Helsinki and how long they have served in the Finish Government.
